Hi.

Im working with a Dimension 3100 AFM microscope with a Nanoscope IV controller, equipped with a closed loop XY-scanner. The software version is the Nanoscope 6.13R1.
When I work with the closed loop 'on', I'm not able to engage the tip because the following error message appears after the pre-check engage:
CLOSED LOOP ERROR - Could not sense motion in X-check connections.
Instead, I can normally approach when the closed loop is disabled.
Is there something that I can check to understand which is the problem?

Thanks.

Chiara

Chiara,

I think you likely have a HW problem that will have to be fixed if you want to operate in Closed Loop. Please contact your closest service center, you can find the contact info here: http://www.bruker-axs.com/nano_surfaces_support.html

Best,
Steve

Hi Chiara,

You can use the following procedure to test your XY sensors:

ftp://anonymous@sboftp.veeco.com/outgoing/GPTech/Manuals/NBSB0038_XY_NULL_and_Sensor_Test.pdf

You can call 800-873-9750 or email afmsupport@bruker-nano.com if you need to send any hardware back for repair.

Regards,

Ruizi
