I hope to know the cantilver temparture when operating AFM in room temperature.

Does anyone know how much temparture increase by the laser? - For general, Al or gold coated cantilevers.

During my PhD, I did an experiment  to check the effect of the laser on the local temperature. Of course I could not directly wire the thermocouple to the cantilever but I put it very neerby (less than 100 um) inside a dish filled with conductive buffer. After half a day of equilibration, the temperature only increased by 3-4 deg C...

It was an Al coated probe but i expect the same behaviour with a gold coated one.

Alex.
