Hi!

I sometimes see a kind of oscillation of the cantilever signal when doing force curves and the tip is in contact with a hard substrate. This oscillation can be seen in the  horizontal and vertical channels (but not always) and occures almost exactly at 300 Hz. I've seen this with two different cantilevers (OBL and AppNano's Hydra2R, both at the very soft end of the spring constant spectrum). The amplitude of the oscillations can be far above the normal noise floor.

Is anyone aware of something in the Catalyst system that could resonate at 300Hz? Unfortunately neither the thermal tune nor the tapping mode tune can display frequencies that low.

Best,

Janne
