Hi All,

According to the manual the MM8 is not designed to realise quantitative LFM. does anybody have an experience to share about manual calibration techniques?

I'm afraid it's difficult to do with any AFM.

Hi Celine,

the sample you linked to is usually used for scanner calibration, as opposed to cantilever calibration, so I don't think it would be a good choice.

The standard that is typically used for the Varenberg wedge method  is the TGF11 grating from Mikromasch. I can't see it on the Mikromasch website anymore, but it appears to be available here: http://www.nanotoolstore.com/afm_accessories_samples_mikromasch.htm 

Note that this grid is not compatible with all tip shapes - it can give artifacts with low aspect ratio tips, such as those found on many silicon nitride cantilevers.
