Hi,

I recently took over responsibility for the new FastScan Bio and Icon systems at KTH in Stockholm. I was under the impression that the FastScan and Icon scanners had more or less similar capabilities (apart from speed and scan size). I then read in the calibration part for Peak Force QNM in the help file, the following warning text "Because the X-axis of the force plot of the Dimension FastScan head can not be accurately quantified, Dissipation, Deformation and Modulus will be qualitative when using the Dimension FastScan head.Channels that are qualitative have a ± symbol, shown in Figure 1."

I have looked through the help file again to find some explanation of this, as it has significant consequences both for QNM work and for force spectroscopy in our lab. All I could find of interest was a confirmation that the z-scanner is closed-loop.

Can you please clarify this statement and its effects?

Thanks!
