For peakforce QNM to get modulus, the sample surface is not always perpendicular to the tip at all, so what general equation does it apply to get modulus?
I don't think there is any. But I don' think this is critical since the cantilever is tilted by the same angle (which is the case) in comparison with the sample's surface. What can be more problematic is when the cantilever is not centered in the hoder or I should say postionned with a different angle from one tip to another. It has been shown that depending on the "attack" angle, the calculated Young's modulus will be very different. For instance in the perpendicular direction, the YM is larger than that in the applied stress direction.
