In showing the scan asyst versus tapping I don't understand how scan asyst doesn't have the same problem of the material sticking to the tip that it has in tapping mode.
In Peak Force Tapping, the modulation or drive amplitude is large enough to dislodge a sticking cantilever duing every cycle. Also, the period of the modulation is much longer, which allows time for a major part of the sticking response (ringing) to die away before making contact again. These two differences do not make Peak Force Tapping independent of sticking but afford it a much larger range of acceptable operation than ordinary tapping.
