Hi,

I notice that, in the termal tune method, there is a correction by considering the bending shapes for each mode. This correction is different for rectangular cantilever and v-shaped cantilever. But i didn't find any possibility to choose between the two shape during the thermal tune procedure. How does the software concerning this factors? is it implemented or will it be ? is it significant ?

Thanks for your answer

Regards

Guillaume

Guillaume,

The correction should be set to 1.106 for rectangular cantilevers and 1.144 for v-shaped cantilevers. This is left as a numeric parameter rather than just a shape selection since some users may prefer other corrections.

A full discussion of the correction can be found in my spring constant calibration application note. An explanation of the two corrections is given on pages 5-6 and the specific recommendations for NanoScope software on page 10

Regards,

-Ben
