Webinar Date & Time

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Morning Broadcast, 8:30 AM PST*

Webinar Overview

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is an increasingly attractive technique for the study of microbial cells. With its nondestructive ability to operate on native surfaces under environmentally-relative conditions, AFM can provide both qualitative and quantitative information on the structural and physical properties of cells with nanoscale resolution.

In this exclusive presentation, we will discuss the most recent advances in AFM technology for facilitating new avenues of research in microbiology, including:

• High-speed AFM imaging of the dynamics of antimicrobial peptide interactions with bacteria cells

• Optically-guided force spectroscopy for measurements of microbial cell membrane elasticity

• Nanomechanical mapping of individual bacterial cell surfaces

• A fully-interactive Q&A session will follow the presentation

There will be only one live broadcast and seating is limited - register early.
