Product Support Engineer, Technical Leader, Atomic Force Microscopy

 

Bruker Nano Surfaces Division seeks a Technical Lead for its industrial and research AFM product line located in Santa Barbara. The position has four primary responsibilities:

 

·         Resident system level expert on Bruker Atomic Force Microscopes (AFMs) and associated applications. 

·         Technical development and proficiency of the world-wide Bruker Nano Surfaces (BNS) post-sale customer facing regional technical leadership and team on Bruker AFM applications and instrumentation through technical leadership, training development/delivery, and knowledge data base development.

·         Collaborate with engineering and other cross-functional groups to define and drive product improvements through the new product development and introduction process as well as on current released instrumentation and associated application modules.

·         System level support for world-wide Bruker Nano Surfaces (BNS) post-sale customer facing regional technical leadership and team

Bruker manufactures world class atomic force microscopes and other nano technologies that incorporate the very latest advances in AFM techniques, including the revolutionary ScanAsyst™ AFM imaging mode and the PeakForce QNM® atomic force microscopy imaging mode to ideally suit a wide array of application areas, from biology to semiconductors, from data storage devices to polymers, and from integrated optics to measurement of forces between particles and surfaces

 

LOCATION/SCHEDULE/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

-          Must be able to relocate to Santa Barbara, CA

-          Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice up to 25% of the time

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

-          Hand’s on experience operating AFM systems

-          Able to test, diagnose, and troubleshoot complex modern electro-mechanical systems and computerized systems

-          Demonstrated ability to use standard tools (DVM, Oscilloscope)

-          Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

-          Master of Science, PhD preferred, in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Material Science or equivalent field with 5 years of Scanning Probe Microscopy experience in the field of surface characterization, material characterization, metrology or related

-          3+ years of industry experience

-          Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics
