I figured out (quite often) that even when the image displayed in the log (Young's modulus) channel exhibit a perfect tracking and contrast, it can happen that the corresponding Young's modulus channel doesn't show anything or just the retraction line or a highly instable trace, even when the deflection sensitivity and sping constant are correctly calibrated, and the Young's moduls limit is set up to the max.

Any idea why?

This is not specific to DMT. I also saw that with Sneddon.

Thanks,

Alex.

I found the answer to that one: realtime plane fit has to be the same (if possible NONE to avoid any problem with the sample background; otherwise big instalbilities can happen at each scan line) on ALL channels.

Hi, Alex, do you mean NONE has to be applied to height as well as modulus to avoid the commonly seen instable phenomenon as you described? Should we set the default plane fit to NONE to all the channels in next release of real time software to avoid this?

Hi Ang,

Yes, I think it's much better this way.

Actually, by default, at least for the last versions of Nanoscope, all the filters are set to NONE.

Best,

Alex.
