The Nanoscale Bioelectrical Characterization group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is looking for an early stage researcher (predoc) to develop novel label free identification methods for single bacteria and other microorganisms like single viruses based on broadband nanoscale dielectric measurements. The contract will be within the framework of the NANOMICROWAVE Marie Curie Initial Training Network which aims at training a whole generation of researchers in the field of nanoscale microwave technologies and related emerging applications in the fields of semiconductor industry and life sciences.

The successful candidate will develop multidisciplinary research involving:
- Microorganism growth and sample preparation.
- Nanoscale dielectric measurements on single microorganisms.
- Theoretical modeling and label free identification. 

Requirements:
- Degree and Master on any field on Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Biotechnology or Engineering (completed before the contract staring date).
- Multidisciplinary qualifications (Physics/Bio, Engineering/Bio, etc.), knowledge on Nanotechnology, specifically on Scanning Probe Microscopies and/or on Finite Element Numerical methods will be a plus.
- High level of English and good communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate and up to date records.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own work and organise research within the project schedule.
- Computer literacy, analytical skills and effective team working.

Marie-Curie fellowship Mobility requirement:
At the time of recruitment by IBEC, candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work or studies) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment.
