Hello,
Recently, we have been trying to use the STM mode and following engaging, the current is constant at around -125 nA, and the piezo is fully retracted. We've attempted a false engage, and the current still remains at the -125 nA value. What could be causing this and how can we fix this?

I am not totally sure, but I feel like this used to happen to me sometimes at random. It was a while ago when I was doing STM in ambient conditions, but I think usually it seemed to be a small fiber that was on the tip or if you are running STM in ambient air, then maybe a small amount of water on your sample. If you are using a multimode system, then try blowing off the STM head, the tip, and sample. I'll have to think back more careful concerning how we usually fixed this kind of issue.
