Is Peak Force QNM a form of high speed force volume imaging?
PFT has close similarity to force volume, where the trigger force controls the maximum interaction force. There are two major differences. The first one is the level of force control. While force volume operates at a trigger force well in excess of nN in order to gain a stable trigger, PFT can control down to pN level. The second difference is the speed of performing interaction cycle, as you indicated. Combination of the two factors allows PFT to work at much higher resolution on far broader range of samples in the conventional imaging speed. One side note is that all the mechanical properties are calculated and presented in the real time in the case of PFT.
