Hello there,
I have an Icon microscope and I am doing some piezoelectric force microscopy on some very weakly piezoelectric samples.
I find that I get much better results from the Low speed (LS) lockin compared to the high speed for a given frequency (15 kHz).
This I believe is aside from the gain as I really see nothing with the high speed lockin.
What is the main difference between the two lockins which would contribute to this difference I see?
Thanks
Tim
Hi Tim,
Could be a few things. The high-speed lock-in does employ a high-pass filter so it will block slow signals. The gains as you already mentioned may be different depending on your settings. I would also check that you indeed have a proper signal in between tip and sample by means of an oscilloscope.
