  • Re: Problems regarding the TappingMode in liquid

Hi, 7-9kHz sounds right. Are you using the c-lever out of the 4 cantilevers available on the chip? Also, after your engage did you try to re-tune the frequency to see if there were any shifts? Regards, Stefan

  • Re: Repeating pattern in contact mode

Hi Solong, I fail to see a pattern in your image but it looks to me that the tip simply picks up material from your sample and drags it around. This appears to be the origin of those streaks in your image. Can you try to lower the setpoint a little bit and see what happens? When you scan the image over again do the streaks disappear? Regards, Stefan

  • Re: Regarding EFM

Hi Gangaiah, You are having an electrostatic interaction between the sample and your tip that you are measuring. This is the origin of your signal that you observe. Surface roughness play of course a role and in general the smoother the surface is the "better" the measurement, i.e. you are less affected by artifacts arising from edges where

Hi Wang Shuo, What frequency do you use to excite your tips in fluids? Regards, Stefan

  • Re: No PeakForce TUNA module in Dimension 3100?

Hi Solong, PeakForce Tapping and related modes based on it, like PeakForce QNM, PeakForce TUNA, PeakForce Kelvin, require the Nanoscope 5 controller. These modes are quite demanding on the processing power of the controller and although the NS4 is a great controller and so is the D3100 it doesnt have the processing power required for PeakForce Tapping

  • Re: Regarding EFM

Hi Gangaiah, Why do you think there would be no contrast between gold and glass? You will have an attractive force when over the gold film and less so over the glass. That is exactly what you seem to observe. What problem are you trying to adrerss using EFM? Best regards, Stefan

  • Re: Conductive AFM

Hi Nishith, Bruker has a conductive/TUNA module for the Innova AFM that has a wide range from 10(3) V/A to 10(11) V/A and can go up to 10mA current. This module can be hooked up to an ICON if so desired. Let me know if you need further information (stefan.kaemmer at bruker-nano dot com) Regards, Stefan

  • Re: Conductive AFM

Hi Nishith, A/D converters are typically 10V that is where these restriction come from primarily. However, you also have to consider that your current has to go through the AFM tip which makes the current density really high and pose a limiting factor. What are you trying to measure? Stefan

Hi Aarthi, I am not sure what exactly you mean by not getting "the right force curves". You are pushing from your feedback point into the sample and then go only back to feedback with a quite stiff cantilever. Maybe you can try the experiment with a slightly softer cantilever and compare the slope of the force curve. Let me know and I can
