  • Re: Nanoscope IIIa problem

Hi Matheus, Electronic components become obsolete and there is often no plug-in replacement. That may be why you got the answer that your board which was used in controllers from 1997 on is not repairable. There is however a replacement board available to replace the old DSP. I can send you the official obsolescence notice that went out in 2011 if you

  • Re: Young's modulus in PFQNM

Hi Ang, Yes, I think it's much better this way. Actually, by default, at least for the last versions of Nanoscope, all the filters are set to NONE. Best, Alex.

  • Re: drive attenuation in nanoscope v531r1

Hi Nic There used to be a 1X-8X attenuation feature in early versions. What it actually did was attenuate the gain of the photo-detector signal by a factor of 8. The feature still exists but the name changed to Amplitude Limit (or Deflection Limit in contact mode). It is located in the window labeled Other Controls and toggles back and forth between

  • Re: Nanoscope IIIa problem

Below is the answer from Pat in Tech support: In order for the computer to recognize the hard disk, you will need to configure the BIOS to recognize it. You can count the number of cylinders, heads and sectors from the label on the hard disk. And enter them. After that, the computer will once again recognize the hard disk. If your hard disk is physically

  • Re: Young's modulus in PFQNM

I found the answer to that one: realtime plane fit has to be the same (if possible NONE to avoid any problem with the sample background; otherwise big instalbilities can happen at each scan line) on ALL channels. Alex.

  • Re: Clean contaminated AFM cantilever?

Hi Thuvu, One way out is (under the condition that you operate in fluid) have a flow through while you are imaging. That way you are very likely to flush away 90% of the contaminants. UV/ozone cleaner is not 100% efficient. Depending on the nature of your polymers, detergents might also help. Piranha solution? Yes, this is the radical approach but I

  • Re: Tungsten Tips - Minimum voltage to get field emission in a vacuum

Hi Dave, The conditions for field emission are that: V(Bias) > Barrier height/e if I am not mistaken. What are you trying to do? Stefan

Mayur, This one looked really interesting. Are you aware of any similar event (AFM/Raman) happening in 2013? Thanks, Alex.
