  • Re: Probes With Low Spring Constants

Thank you for your response. We have had success imageing in PeakForce Tapping mode using the MLCT Probes - A Cantilever. We found that too soft of a spring constant tended to produce a poor image but that if the probes were too stiff the cells would come off of the surface they were stuck to. Thanks again for your help Joshua

Thanks for your help! I'll be sure to try the Fluid+ probes.

  • Probe recommendations

Hi I am imaging small (10nm) quantum dots with a bioscope catalyst system in fluid and I'm wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good probe. I'm looking for something that will potential work in both air and fluid with good resolution on a small scale. Thank you! Joshua Price

  • Re: TESP-HAR imaging problem

Those are good points. I'm sure I had the right image, however. I've added another image without any flattening or other processing. This is with out a doubt the height channel. Clearly the hole is still flat. And I would agree, it seems like if the tip had broken off the lip around the hole wouldn't have such good resolution. I'm still

  • TESP-HAR imaging problem

I have been imaging a small (1um), deep hole that has been machined through a thin piece of glass. The imaging has been done using a Bioscope Catalyst AFM. I have had great success imaging the hole using ScanAsyst probes in PF-QNM mode. I am able to successfully image the hole in both air and fluid. However, because of the depth of the hole and the

  • Re: E-Box Vertical Deflection Drift

Thank you both so much for the help. I think Ben was right on the money which the liquids. Today I am imaging in air and am having no problems as the room has been very closely controlled. Its amazing how many little things I dont think of at this point. Thanks again for your help! Joshua Price

  • Re: E-Box Vertical Deflection Drift

Thanks for your help Alex, At this point I'm using MSNL-10 probes but I've experienced this issue with ScanAsyst Fluid and Air probes as well. I am aligning in liquid but at this point its just pure reagent grade water. Eventually I'll be using Alsevers solution, but for now I'm just using water. As far as all the signals dropping to

  • E-Box Vertical Deflection Drift

I am using a BioScope Catalyst AFM and I am having a hard time with my E-Box. When I am using the EasyAlign to align the laser on the back of the cantilever i can maximize the Sum signal and then I adjust the knobs until the vertical and horizontal deflection are 0.00 or there about. However, immediately the vertical deflection begins to drift, either

  • Probes With Low Spring Constants

I am a relatively new AFM user and I am looking for advice on using probes with extremely low spring constants (in the range or 0.01 - 0.05 N/m). My long term goal is to image red blood cells (RBCs) using the AFM and observe structural changes as they encounter different proteins. I have tried imaging RBCs using the basic ScanAsyst Fluid probes with
