  • Reading TM Deflection from General I/O.

hi, I want to read the cantilever deflection in tapping mode by recording the TM deflection signal from the General Outputs 1/2 of the NSV controller. I just want to know if this can be done, since the General I/O Outputs 1/2 have an update rate of 100kHz where as the TM deflection is expected to have a frequency between 250-350 kHz. Umar.

  • Re: Frequency response.

hello, The method given in the post suggests the following steps, 1) Engage on the surface in contact mode 2) Use the Generic Lockin feature and set Lock-In to drive Z and Vertical as the input 3) Sweep In the multimode software the first step will also start rastering the sample beneath the cantilever. Now if I move to steps 2,3 I will be ratering

  • Frequency response.

hello, Is there a way to get the frequency response from piezo input voltage in Z direction to the cantilever deflection? Can I do something like suggested in the thread titled "Transfer function of E type piezo tube ". Best regards, Umar.

  • Signal callibration.

hello, I am using an NI DAQ USB 6356 for reading the height signal at output 1 and amplitude (Tapping Mode) and deflection (Contact Mode) at output 2 of the Nanoscope 5 controller. Can you please tell me how I can determine the callibration constants to convert these measurements from volts to nanometers? Secondly, I have noticed that in tapping mode

  • Re: Maximum gain values.

hi Stefan, Right, but before I can bring the oscillations out, I need a range in which I can experiment with the P and I gains. Can I use gains as high as 30 without damaging the SPM? I would like to minimize the chances of damaging the tip or cantilever, but in case this happens I can replace these. Also I would like to experiment with I gains higher

  • Maximum gain values.

hi, I am using the Multimode SPM with Nanoscope V controller in the tapping and contact mode. I tune the P and I gains in the range suggested in the manual, however I could not find the maximum permissible values for these gains which can be used safely. By safe I mean avoiding damage to the SPM or the Nanoscope controller. Can you please tell me what

  • The DDS 3 Output in Nanoscope V.

Hi, I am using a DAQ card to read the general I/O outputs 1 and 2 from the front panel of the nanoscope V controller. Now I want to use the DDS3 Output to read a third low frequency analog signal, which I will select using the nanoscope software. Can you please tell me how I can enable the DDS3 to be used as a low frequency analog output? best regards

  • Re: Nanoscope V BNC terminals.

hello, Thanks for the information. My last post should have read “TM deflection in tapping mode”, sorry about the inconvenience caused. I just need to verify , if I set Microscope Mode to tapping and then Output 1 Data Type = input and Output 1 Data = Amplitude , I should get the actual cantilever amplitude in tapping mode? Additionally

  • Re: Nanoscope V BNC terminals.

hi, Is there any way I can read the voltage signals being sent to the piezo actuator for x y and z movement? and if I select say Output 1 Data Type = Input and Data = "Z sensor" will I get the z displacement of the piezo scanner? I am planning to read the low frequency analog outputs 1 and 2 using a DAQ card. I understand that I can read the

  • Nanoscope V BNC terminals.

hello, I want to get the deflection and amplitude signals from the Nanoscope V controller BNC terminals and need to find an appropriate data acquisition card for this purpose. If any one has done this can they please suggest me a suitable card? Umar.
