  • Re: Cantilever length parameterisation

Hi Stefan Having trouble uploading the curves to this site, perhaps I can send them as an attachment via email to you? The cantilevers do seem to image OK but the parameters especially amplitude setpoint and drive amplitude are very different to what I normally operate at and so I am concerned for the health of the tip and image quality etc Thanks David

  • Cantilever length parameterisation

Acting on advice for imaging soft samples (polyester films) I have been experimenting with longer cantilevers (225um) compared with the usual 95um cantilevers I use. Normally I operate with a target amplitude of around 2V, amplitude setpoint of around 1.5V which yields a drive amplitude between 50 and 300mV. These parameters do not work at all for the

  • Re: Polyester film imaging parameters

Thanks Stefan, That drive amplitude seems a little excessive though! I normally image between 70mV and 300mV. When a tip exceeds this its usually a sign that its nearing end of its lifetime. I was more curious about what people thought about Silicon vs Silicon nitride, resonant frequency, stiffness, and what kind of supersharp probes are best for high

  • Polyester film imaging parameters

I am beginning a study on Polyester films with AFM. I am currently trying to optimise my scanning parameters and tip specifications to suit imaging in tapping mode at all magnifications and resolutions from 100um down to 500nm. I would welcome any opinions on cantilever stiffness, thickness, resonant frequency, drive amplitude, tip architechture and
