Deflection Error can be multiplied by the cantilever spring constant to get the force acting on the cantilever. This will give you a relative force value (offset by arbitratry value) because the deflection error is also just relative to some arbitrary baseline. To get the absolute force, you need to set your baseline to 0. The baseline is the part where

Hartmut, is the PF-capture feature already released? Is it awailable also for PF without QNM on the Catalyst? Best, Janne

Hi Joop, I have the Catalyst and Nanoscope 8.15r3, and I have successfully done the thermal tune in 5-2000kHz mode without any errors. Janne

Thanks Alex. Yes I am doing the long equilibration already I will try to decrease the SPM engage step, that was one parameter that I haven't changed yet. Do you have any recommended settings for the engage gain? I have only values from experience for contact mode, I have to set them extremely low (0.05 or 0.1), otherwise the cantilever immediately

Hi all, I would be interested in any tips and tricks to get PeakForce Tapping working with OBL cantilevers in fluid (buffered saline). Best would be the softer OBL B, but OBL A would also maybe work (my samples are flat super-soft polymers, so no issue with cantilever touching surface). I was not able to engange with the OBL so far... are there recommended

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try them out. Janne

Or another thought: Is there a way to script/program something in the Nanoscope software which would help me get more than one channel during force volume?

Hi Bede, thanks for the response. Do you know if I can get the vertical and lateral signal simultaneously out through one of the outputs on the Nanoscope V controller? I need to correlate the lateral and vertical signal within the same curve, to see how much the cantilever flexes laterally while pushing on irregular stiff surfaces. Point and shoot is

Hello, Is it possible to record both the vertical AND horizontal deflection in force volume mode? I am using a Bioscope Catalyst with Nanoscope 8.10. In ramp mode you can obviously choose Channels 1 and 2 accordingly, but in force volume I don't see the option to have multiple channels...? Best, Janne

Hi Alex, I'd be interested in looking into that paper by Weener, but I cannot find any publication by him in Langmuir. Maybe you meant another journal? Or if you have the exact reference, then I'd appreciate that as well. Thanks, Janne
