Acting on advice for imaging soft samples (polyester films) I have been experimenting with longer cantilevers (225um) compared with the usual 95um cantilevers I use.

Normally I operate with a target amplitude of around 2V, amplitude setpoint of around 1.5V which yields a drive amplitude between 50 and 300mV. These parameters do not work at all for the longer cantilvers however.

I have tried dropping the target amplitude to 500mV but the resonant behavior is still very messy and the channels are still yielding strange and artifact filled data.

Is there something I am missing?

Many thanks

David

Hi David,

Can you please post a resonance curve of the cantilever you are attempting to use?

Thanks,

Stefan

Hi Stefan

Having trouble uploading the curves to this site, perhaps I can send them as an attachment via email to you?

The cantilevers do seem to image OK but the parameters especially amplitude setpoint and drive amplitude are very different to what I normally operate at and so I am concerned for the health of the tip and image quality etc

Thanks

David
