  • Re: splitting 1 column of data into multiple columns after ascii export

If you use Format Columns =1024 during ASCII export, NanoScope Analysis creates a text file of 1024 columns, each 30 characters wide. Excel has difficulty dealing with such a wide spreadsheet. I tried using Data>Get External Data From Text to import a 1024x1024 and it gave a message that the data set was too large to fit in a single worksheet (and

  • Re: Export raw nanoscope data

Oops. You really don't want to use offline planefit=full... The situation is this: the real-time software does the planefit and then saves the result as scaled 16bit integers. The original data is no longer available. To recover something like the original data, you would need to apply the "Raw mean" calculation from Roughness on all of

  • Re: Export raw nanoscope data

When you saved the files, did you use offline planefit = full or offline planefit = offset? If so, it may be difficult to remove the effect of the planefit (except using Roughness raw mean). If you saved them with offline planefit = none, all of the data is unfiltered and you can use functions like Depth and Bearing to get histograms and Roughness to

  • Re: HSDC data conversion (Matlab) q

Hi Palli, I'm Glad to see that you have a solution. With regard to the 4% issue: Deflection sensitivity correction is only used when doing thermal tune calibrations of spring constant, so that is not causing the difference I'm guessing that the difference is coming from using the wrong sensitivity (there are about four that are all very similar

  • Re: HSDC data conversion (Matlab) q

It sounds like your HSDC data set contains Peak Force Tapping data. Is that right? If so, what is your modulation frequency? Peak Force Tapping HSDCs usually use the 500KHz ADC, so you can work out how many points per curve from that. The spikes are added artificially to help you find the start of each tap. --Bede

  • Re: Typical deflection sensitivity of Icon

Deflection sensitivity depends on: The shape of the laser spot when it hits the PSD (how does the response change as a function of spot position) The length of the cantilever and how it bends along its length (since we are using an optical lever, this determines how much the spot moves) The geometry and electronics of your particular AFM There are a

  • Re: How to convert capture files to image files?

In Nanoscope v5 and earlier we did not support opening files with older versions of Nanoscope if the files were created in newer versions (even within the same major version number). However, there is a command line option that can sometimes override this behavior -- I would say that it is worth trying, but I don't have high hopes for it working
