  • Sharp tip or dull tip?

Hello, I recently read an article (Langmuir, 28, 16060) in which they analyze sharp tips vs. dull tips for PeakForce QNM. They report that the dull tip gives a more accurate modulus because it decreases the maximum stress applied to the surface. This makes it possible to stay within the linear limits of stress/strain as determined with DMA. This this

[quote user="Ben Ohler"] 5) Probably obvious, but be sure that you are getting good "normal" force curves with a flat baseline and a linear contact region. The only feature should be some modest adhesion, especially if done in air. If the curve is wavy, a huge adhesion distorts the whole thing, the contact region is obviously non
