What are the disadvantages of using thermal tune with the adapter on an NSIVa vs. thermal tune on an NSV? Aside from the ease-of-use factor, what are the other limitations? Is thermal tune less accurate on the NSIVa?
Also, does the adapter work with the MultiMode, or only the Dimension?

The NSIVa thermal tune function is limited in frequency by the data acquisition rate of the NSIVa. The maximum frequency that can be tuned is about 30KHz. The data acquisition rate on the NSV is 50MHz, so it can tune cantilevers up to 2MHz with no problem (assuming that they are not too stiff).
The thermal tune function on the NSIVa is available for all scanners that have a Z- sensor -- the Hybrid XYZ head on the Dimension and the Picoforce scanner on the Multimode. Nanoscope v6.xx software is required to use this function.

Hi
I was working with AFM NS IVa to calibrate the cantilever by thermal tune, which after measuring the deflection sensitivity i turned to thermal tune but there is a redf bar appear on the left side of the screen and finally there is no sharp signal at the thermal tune window. I don't know what parameters affect the thermal tune calibration.
Can you provide a little more detail about your configuration?
1. What kind of probe are you tuning? What spring constant and resonant frequency?
2. What type of system? PicoForce or Dimension With hybrid head?
