  • Re: Tip Selection Question

Kef, It depends on which mode you are using. I certainly suggest Peak Force Tapping (PFQNM or ScanAsyst). We have been able to achieve superior results when compared to regular tapping on brush-like samples. If you are using PFT, try both ScanAsyst Air, or SNL -B (~0.3 N/m); for fluid - ScanAsyst_Fluid (~0.7 N/m). If you plan to use tapping, your samples

  • Congratulations to MultiMode users Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov for the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics

On behalf of the entire AFM team I would like to congratulate Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov at the University of Manchester (and 10 year MultiMode SPM users), for jointly winning this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics “for groundbreaking experiments regarding the two-dimensional material graphene” ( http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes

  • Re: Anodic Oxidation with Nanoman

John, The process for the bitmap import is well documented in 013-413-000 NANOMAN VS NANOLITHOGRAPHY V7-D, page 38. A full example experiment for Anodic Oxidation using a bitmap is on page 48. Please review and let me know if you still have a problem. For the sample, the experiment guide recommends a “clean, doped Si surface”. If you have

  • Re: How to measure a deep pit?

I would also recommend that you download NanoScope Analysis. There is an extensive, clear, and convenient online help for all of these features. Steve Nanoscope Analysis v120r1sr3.pdf

  • Re: Probe selection in Force Volume/Contact Mode

HarryC, Can you start by making sure you can engage and image on a calibration grid? Try to the following settings Vertical and Horizontal deflection signals set to zero. Integral and proportional gains set to 2. Deflection setpoint set to 2 for silicon probe, 5 for silicon nitride. 50 um scan size 2 Hz scan rate If that doesn’t work, we have

  • Re: Nanoindentation Using AFM Probe

Unfortunately Veeco does not offer contract sample running services. Below I have attached a list of vendors that may provide the services you require. I believe Don Chernoff at ASM has nanoindenting capability. This list has been created over the years, so if you find updates, deletions, or additions please let me know. Also be sure to check out Veeco’s

  • Re: Scan Asyst with High features and large scans

Andres, It’s tough to troubleshoot this problem more without actually seeing the data. I saw in your profile you are in the UK so I contacted our local Apps Scientist, Ian Armstrong, who said he knew you. He will be at NPL a couple weeks and said he would contact you offline to set up a visit to see your problem first hand. If you need something
